EXPERT MATHS TUITION AT GCSE, A-LEVEL AND BEYOND

Do you “not get maths”? Do you often find the right answer to maths problems but without really understanding how or why? Or are you an already competent mathematician but looking to push your skills further? If so then Bournemouth Maths Tutor Barney can help.

A Countdown champion, Barney Maunder-Taylor scored his win on the T.V. show in 2010, and his Countdown winner's teapot stands amongst his proudest possessions. But his love of the lighter side of mathematics is backed up by serious qualifications: he has a first in maths from Oxford University.

Based in Bournemouth but also tutoring online worldwide, maths tutor Barney has years of experience at showing how maths can be simple, straightforward and even fun. Whether you're studying for A-level, Higher level GCSE, or even at University, you'll see how Barney combines enthusiasm, energy and expertise.

Private one-to-one maths tutor Barney is based in Charminster, Bournemouth where he lives with his young family. In his spare time he plays backgammon, creates 3D shapes, and runs the Bournemouth and East Dorset Maths Jam. Read on below, and then get in touch. There's no obligation and he'll be happy to discuss how he can help you achieve your goals in maths.

ONLINE OR FACE-TO-FACE TUTORIALS?

UPDATE (2023-24): around 1/2 of my maths tutorials

are now Face-2-Face, and around 1/2 are Online. The choice is entirely yours!

FACE-TO-FACE MATHS TUTORIALS: perfect if you prefer pen &

paper to working from a screen, for hands-on maths with concrete objects, or if you just prefer the social aspect of meeting in person each week. Working with concrete objects such as cubes, dice, cards, blocks, masses etc can help to make maths less abstract.

ONLINE MATHS TUTORIALS: perfect if you live anywhere in the UK

and beyond, if you live in Bournemouth but want to save time travelling to and from tutorials, or if you just prefer the comfort and convenience of your own home. We'll use Zoom (or other video software) and online collaborative whiteboard; both are free for you to use. You’ll receive a pdf of each tutorial immediately afterwards + you can visit our work together at any time using a web link unique to you. A graphics tablet is recommended (especially for A-level) so we can both write on screen more easily – please ask for a recommendation.
