PUZZLE OF THE WEEK

What shape goes in the intersection of this Venn Diagram?

Read on for the answer:

A quick reminder:

KITES: have two pairs of adjacent equal sides.

TRAPEZIA: have one pair of parallel sides. One of them is called a trapezium; more than one is trapezia.

AND NOW THE ANSWER: any any shape with both of these properties must have all four sides the same length. The answer is therefore RHOMBI (the plural of “rhombus” – the correct mathematical name of a “diamond” shape).

NOTE: if you said “squares” you are only partly correct: all the other rhombi need to go in the intersection too!
